While opinions abound on proper nutrtional requirements for our equine partners, The Rustic Star has chosen to adapt Michigan State University's quidelines for our feeding program.
*Grain is freshly milled locally through Pigeon Creek Mill, owned and operated by Doug Nash
*Grain is measured by weight when every new horse arrives and is put on our feeding program *Hay is grown on the property from two large hayfields--one is a grass mixture and the other is an Alfalfa/grass mix
*Horses are fed grain twice each day and fed hay three or four times each day. Each horse receives a minimum of one/half bale of hay each day and horses who receive an upgraded board receive an additional flake of hay each day in their stalls
*Horses graze on nearly 50 acres of lush pastures during the summer and rotate regularly to fresh pastures to prevent overgrazing
*During the summer months the horses are released back onto the pastures after their evening meal provided in their stalls for continued natural grazing *All provided supplements will be added to individual grains as directed by the horse owner
